Finally installing the final protector from the Cliffy’s set. This pair is for the shooter lane ball eject and go under the lane rails.
While The lower apron was removed, I took the opportunity to clean and wax the outlanes and lower shooter lane. There was also fraying of the laminate on the inside of the inner rail. That was glued in place.
The shooter lane pre-installation
Two screws to unscrew to remove the apron
Unplug the connector to the launch lamp
Shooter lane with apron removed
Another view of the unprotected shooter
Side view of the playfield and rails
Remove the autolauncher with 4 screws on the coil and 3 screws on the kicker(1/4″ hex heads)
The laminate on the inner rail is frayed;I’ll fix that while I’m here
Laminate glued and held to dry overnight
Final view of the shooter lane before installing the protector
Rail screws to be loosened
Three screws for the inner rail
Three screws for the outer rail
The left-side eject protector is held in place by two screws;I drilled two 5/64″ pilot holes
The right-side eject protector is aligned with a hole for the rail screw
The eject protector in place under the outer rail; clamp the outer rail so the “tooth” on the protector digs into the playfield then screw in both rails
Then replace the kicker and coil for the autolauncher
And finally replace the apron; shooter eject protected!
