What was once the home of the ancient and noble Bargagli family of Siena, Castello di Casole is now one of the largest private landholdings in all of Italy. The presence of the Bargagli family in the area is documented since at least the mid-17th century and into the early 20th century. The original estate included over thirty farms, two grand villas, one of which is now Hotel Castello di Csole, and 2,200 hectares of cultivated and wooded land. ((One of the most special places on this historic estate, perched atop Hostel Castello di Casole, is The Bargagli Penthouse.
