I’ve had the complete set of Cliffy’s protectors for a while, and finally am getting the time to install. The set includes protectors for both scoops, the shooter eject lane, the outhole drain, and switch slots. I start with the Sarlacc Pit scoop.
The Sarlacc Pit with damage visible on the left and right sides. The protector will prevent further injury.
Another view of the Sarlacc Pit scoop and playfield damage.
The Sarlacc Pit from above with the stretch of railing that will have to be moved. The plastic with Bib Fortuna is held by three 5/16″ nuts.
This clear plastic protects the back of the Jabba light, but it is also protecting a nut I need to loosen to remove the plastic and post. So I moved the rail to get to the nut.
The low end of the rail. This is a 3/8″ nut.
Screw mid-rail by the scoop.
The plastic set aside to view the scoop and posts.
The underside kicker with five screws. The screw hex heads are 1/4″.
The kicker.
The scoop held by three screws with the same 1/4″ hex heads.
The scoop.
The inside of the scoop showing wear and dirt. This will get cleaned and polished before reassembly.
The playfield had to be put down to install the protector. I hung the kicker and scoop by the wire harness so they weren’t hanging by just the few wires to them.
The protector in place. A post will go in the hole on the right side.
Another view of the protector in place around the pit.
The underside of the pit with protector in place. The protector clip covers one of the screw holes.
